If you are using the IE web browser, you will be able to encrypt emails from any of the following webmails.
Yahoo mail, Yahoo mail beta, Hotmail, Windows live mail beta, Gmail, Lycos mail, Rediff mail and Rediff mail plus.
If you are using the Firefox Web browser, you will be able to encrypt emails from any of the following webmails. Support for beta versions of the webmails will follow very soon.
Yahoo mail, Hotmail, Gmail, Lycos mail and Rediff mail.

The Keygloo toolbar looks like this.

You should see the above toolbar in your Internet Explorer upon installing Keygloo.

Type your e-mail fully.

Fill up the "To:" field with the e-mail ids of the recipients. If you have 'CC' recipients and 'BCC' recipients, fill those fields too.

On the Keygloo toolbar, click 'Encrypt' button.

If this is the first time you are sending an encrypted e-mail to one or more of the e-mail recipients, Keygloo will ask you for their Keygloo numbers. Enter the corresponding numbers and click 'Ok'. If Keygloo already has all the recipients' Keygloo numbers, this step will be absent.

If you do not know the Keygloo number of any of the recipients, click 'I don't know' when Keygloo asks you for that recipient's number. Keygloo will not encrypt the email for this recipient.

On successful encryption, you will see the e-mail turn into junk. You can now send the email by clicking the 'Send' button. If there are any recipients whose keygloo number you did not know, they will not receive the e-mail.

Open the encrypted email.

If you have your key in a removable media, connect it to your computer.

From the Keygloo toolbar, click the 'Decrypt' button.

If you changed the location of your key recently, keygloo will ask you for the new location. Provide the path of the new location and click 'OK'.

If you have protected your key with a password, you will be asked for the password. Enter the password and click 'OK'.

The encryption and decryption procedures are the same for all the web mails and email clients. However, the procedure for attaching an encrypted file differs for each web mail. You will find instructions on how to encrypt, decrypt and attach on clicking the 'help' button in the Keygloo toolbar.

Browse and select the files to attach.

If you do not have the Keygloo number for any of the recipients, then click 'I don't know' when Keygloo asks for the number. keygloo will exclude this recipient from receiving the email.

Your attachements will now be encrypted. Click the 'Continue to message' button provided in the Yahoo page.

You may now proceed with the rest of the email.

Click the 'Continue to message' button provided in the Yahoo page.

You may now proceed with the rest of the email.

Browse and selcted the encrypted file. You can identify them by their icon . Repeat until you are done with all the files.

Attaching a file in the Google standard window is slightly different from the normal procedure.
- Fill up the "To:" field with the e-mail ids of the recipients. If you have 'CC' recipients and 'BCC' recipients, fill those fields too.
- Write your e-mail. Encrypt it if necessary before you begin attaching files.
- Click the 'Attach a File' link in the Gmail compose page.
- Browse and select the file you want to attach.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 if you want to attach more than one file.
- Now, click the 'Attach' button in the Keygloo toolbar.
NOTE : Clicking the attach button at this point will encrypt your attachments and also send the email. You will have no control over the email after this step. So make sure your email has been typed and encrypted before this step. |
